Even though Umeå is the largest city in northern Sweden, it is still a relatively small town. The Ume River, which flows through the entire Västerbotten County, also passes through Umeå just before the river flows into the sea. Since I live here, the landscape around Umeå is very accessible to me. I hike along the Ume River, drive out to the sea or up into the hills in all seasons of the year.
