In a less visited area of the epically beautiful Lofoten, Lake Storvatnet is nestled in a valley (Fiskebodalen) surrounded by steep mountains with peaks over 800 meters above sea level. At the end of the road there is a small cabin, but there have never been other people there when I have visited the area. I have been there both in July and in August. Epically beautiful both times. I have photographed when the fog slowly rolls over the mirror-like lake during sunrise with the surrounding peaks glowing. EPIC!

Best Time to Photograph The Location
I’ve only been here in the summer, but I’m sure you can visit the area at any time of the year and in any weather and get epic photos. The valley and lake face north, meaning you only get the soft light of sunrise and sunset into the valley during June and July when it’s the midnight sun.
I think a visit during the fall, with snow-dusted mountain peaks and trees in fiery autumn colors, must be the best.
How To Find The Location
At the village of Fiskebøl, close to the European Route E10, you turn onto a gravel road towards Lake Storvatnet. After a couple of kilometres you stop at a road barrier. Park and then it is an easy hike on a gravel road up to the lake.
